People Working in the Fi-Di Area (lunch time/ rush hours)

[From New York ep 06. Financial District]
In Wall Street, the most common outfit is often called the “uniform of the Finance Bros” — light blue dress shirts paired with khaki or beige pants. This look is frequently seen on young men working in business or finance, who are often nicknamed “Finance Bros.”
“Finance Bro” is a urban term that refers to young men working in the financial industry, particularly in areas like Wall Street. The term gained popularity in the late 2000s, especially after the 2008 financial crisis. Originally used in a somewhat mocking tone, it became more widely used in pop culture and social media after the film The Wolf of Wall Street, starring Leonardo DiCaprio. That film became a symbol of “success” for many business students — to the point that the poster could be found in nearly every dorm or apartment of male business majors.
🎤 Interview with Jenny Lee, NYC specialist @98jenjen
“The vibe of the neighborhood is very modern, defined by high-rise condos and offices. Because it’s home to major finance and corporate firms, it gets quite busy from 9 to 5. After work hours and on weekends, it’s noticeably quieter compared to other parts of Manhattan. After 9/11, more people have moved into the area, and many of the buildings are newly constructed luxury apartments. With the high cost of living and rent, the area tends to attract professionals in their 30s and 40s who are more financially established than students or entry-level workers.”
