“When we think of Fashion Week, the first thing that usually comes to mind is the glamorous runway shows. But behind the scenes, Fashion Week is also an important time for designers and buyers to connect, introduce new collections, and build business relationships. So, what do designers actually wear while spending their busy days representing their own brands?
Following last month’s feature on the daily workwear of stylists preparing for Fashion Week, this time I turned my lens toward the designers and brand representatives I met during New York Fashion Week. From September 9–11, I had the opportunity to work as a photographer at Curate International Collections, a fashion trade show held in New York City, where I got to capture their personal styles.
Some of the people I met almost looked like walking lookbooks for their own brands. Some wore pieces from their latest collections, showing how they could be styled and worn in everyday life, while others expressed their brand identities through colors, silhouettes, and accessories, even when they weren’t wearing their own designs.
What I found especially interesting was how their outfits reflected not only their design philosophies but also their individual personalities and personal tastes. Each look told its own story, offering a glimpse into the people behind the brands.”
